A Tribute. With Love from Mary, Tracey and Claire xxx We have always been an extraordinarily close family. We told one another, and showed one another, how much we cared. We take comfort now in knowing that nothing was left unsaid. It seems fitting to use a sailing metaphor: Chris was the mainstay of our family; he was at the helm. His love, his boundless energy and enthusiasm, his strong Christian values, bound us together as a family. Our love for him and countless happy memories will bind us together still in our time of grief. The motto on Captain Cook's crest reads: "Leave nothing unattempted". Chris always endeavoured to live his life by this maxim. He achieved so much, and would have achieved so much more. Chris was always busy, always planning, and yet he never seemed to be in a rush. He maintained all his interests, yet never once put himself first. He enriched our lives and broadened our knowledge. Chris said that Mary was his life. He and Mary were a true partnership. Their marriage was exceptionally strong, close and loving. He was an extraordinary father to Claire and Tracey, and their love and admiration of him only deepened as they grew older. Chris loved us all unconditionally. Yet by his example, through the deeply held values on which he based his actions, he made us better people. We will honour his memory by continuing to try to live by his example. Chris made our lives better. He made our lives fun. We adore him. I will always love you, Chris. Rest in peace darling husband.
